The Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, based in Fayetteville, has received three grants totaling more than $300,000 for education and other programs at the orchestra. A Walton Family Foundation grant of $263,750 will support the orchestra’s ImagiMusic program, which serves approximately 800 students in underserved schools in Benton and Washington counties. The grant will fund ImagiMusic development workshops for educators, and it will also help the orchestra provide competitive compensation for musicians and support the organization’s development and capacity-building efforts. An Arkansas Arts Council grant of $33,440 and a $22,620 grant from the Walmart Foundation will also support the ImagiMusic program. Matthew Herren is the executive director of Symphony of Northwest Arkansas; Paul Haas is music director.
