MEREDITH KIMBALL LAING has been named director of communications at the Raleigh-based North Carolina Symphony. She goes to the NCS from New York City, where she was communications manager for the Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Prior to St. Luke’s, Laing served as manager of communications and public relations for the Princeton (N.J.) Symphony Orchestra, and before entering the orchestra field she worked as an editor and writer in Syracuse, N.Y., and as a radio host on Central New York State’s classical station WCNY. Active as an orchestral violinist, Laing holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music performance from the Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University.
