The Massapequa Philharmonic Orchestra, on New York’s Long Island, has appointed DAVID BERNARD music director, effective with the 2016-17 season. First-prize winner of the Orchestral Conducting Competition of the American Prize, he has guest conducted extensively in the New York region, and since 1999 has served as music director of the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony in New York City. Bernard has recorded seventeen albums, including a complete Beethoven symphony cycle, and presented world premieres of works by such contemporary composers as Bruce Adolphe, Chris Caswell, John Mackey, and Ted Rosenthal.
