The Sphinx Organization, which works to expand opportunities for African-American and Latin musicians in classical music, has opened registration for SphinxConnect, its annual conference for musicians of color, industry leaders, students, and diversity advocates. SphinxConnect takes place February 9-12, 2017 at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit. On the slate are more than 40 sessions including instrumental masterclasses, seminars on career-building, and lectures and discussions focusing on diversity in classical music, with appearances by dozens of speakers and performances by black and Latino musicians. The event also serves as a networking opportunity to further diversity in the orchestra field for musicians of color. Find more information here. Click here to register.
