Canada’s Prince Edward Island Symphony, based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Province, has announced a five-year renewal of MARK SHAPIRO’s contract as music director. He has held the post since October 2013, and also directs the Cecelia Chorus and Orchestra and Cantori New York, both in New York City. Shapiro is on the faculty of New York’s Mannes School of Music and teaches instrumental conducting at the Juilliard School.
