The Kalamazoo (Mich.) Symphony Orchestra has promoted DANIEL BRIER to resident conductor; he was previously the orchestra’s assistant conductor, a post to which he was named in 2014. Brier was founding conductor the Spectrum Orchestra, a Detroit-area community ensemble. He has also served as conductor of the Orpheus Singers at the University of Michigan, and as assistant conductor of the Lexington (Ky.) Philharmonic, the University of Michigan Orchestras, and the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra and Opera Theater. Brier holds a master’s degree in choral conducting from the University of Michigan, where he recently completed graduate studies in orchestral conducting as a student of Kenneth Kiesler.
