The deadline is October 1, 2016 to submit proposals for the third annual New Music Gathering, a three-day conference dedicated to the performance, production, promotion, support, and creation of new concert music. Next year’s event will be held at Ohio’s Bowling Green State University from May 11 to 13, 2017, and the theme is “Support,” which may include subtopics such as financial, technological, pedagogical, artist-to-artist support. Proposals may be submitted from composers, performers, scholars, arts administrators, publishers, critics, and others. Among featured musicians at the conference will be percussionist/conductor Steven Schick, who has commissioned or premiered more than 150 new works during his 40-year career. The founders of New Music Gathering are composers Lainie Fefferman, Daniel Felsenfeld, Mary Kouyoumdjian, Matt Marks, and Jascha Narveson. More information here.
