The Virginia Symphony Orchestra, based in Hampton Roads, has announced that PATRICK B. McDERMOTT will serve as chair for the fiscal year that began July 1, 2016. A member of the VSO board since 2012, and vice-chair during the 2015-16 season, he has maintained a private law practice in southeast Virginia for more than 30 years. McDermott has served on numerous area boards including the Center for Excellence in Aging and Geriatric Health, Hampton Public Schools Foundation, the American Red Cross, and the Hampton Bar Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree from New Jersey’s Montclair State University and earned his law degree from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va.
