The deadline is September 16 to apply for the Sphinx Organization’s first diversity fellowship, which provides a stipend of $20,000 for approximately 30 hours per week with Sphinx from October 2016 through June 1, 2017. Candidates from the Detroit area are preferred for the fellowship, which is designed for early-career arts administrators. The fellow’s duties will emphasize planning and producing SphinxConnect, the organization’s annual conference held in Detroit in February. Fellows must be available to travel to New York (October 19-21, 2016) for the Sphinx Virtuosi’s Carnegie Hall concert; Detroit, Michigan (February 1-15, 2017) for the SphinxConnect conference; and Washington, D.C. (March 28-30, 2017) for the Sphinx Medals of Excellence event honoring early-career black and Latino leaders in music who have demonstrated artistic excellence. Candidates should submit a current resume and a 500-word letter outlining professional goals and how the diversity fellowship will address career objectives to info@sphinxmusic.org.
