At the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, MICHELLE MERRILL has been promoted to associate conductor after two seasons as assistant conductor. She will continue to hold the title of Phillip and Lauren Fisher Community Ambassador, leading education concerts, the “Live from Orchestra Hall: Classroom Edition” webcasts, and a select number of subscription concerts. Prior to joining the DSO Merrill was assistant conductor of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic. She holds a master’s degree in conducting from Southern Methodist University in her native city of Dallas, and in 2013 was awarded an Ansbacher Conducting Fellowship by members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the American Austrian Foundation.
