“After 22 years as the CBS ‘Sunday Morning’ host, Charles Osgood signed off for the last time this past Sunday by performing ‘So Long (It’s Been Good to Know You)’ with members of the Boston Pops,” reads an unsigned Monday (9/26) report at New York classical radio station WQXR. “ ‘I’ve always loved the idea of sharing a stage with the Boston Pops Orchestra,’ said Osgood. He was able to do that in 2003 when he performed ‘The Night Before Christmas’ with the ensemble. During Osgood’s final episode of ‘Sunday Morning,’ he asked several members of the Boston Pops to join him in the television studio for the special performance,” a cello quartet from the Boston Pops, along with BSO assistant principal bass Lawrence Wolfe, who is Osgood’s cousin. “It is a heartwarming rendition by a wonderful broadcaster. So long Mr. Osgood, it’s been good to know you.” Video of the performance is included.
