The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has appointed MATTHEW CARLSON director of communications and media relations, MARC GEELHOED director of digital initiatives, and BRIAN FRAZEE manager of community engagement. Also announced were several promotions: ERIK RÖNMARK to vice president and general manager, LINDA LUTZ to vice president and chief financial officer, KATHRYN GINSBURG to orchestra manager, and TERESA ALDEN to digital communications manager.

Matthew Carlson, who begins his duties on October 11, goes to the DSO after serving as associate director of public relations at Carnegie Hal. Prior to that he spent two years as senior public relations manager at New York’s Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Marc Geelhoed was previously manager of audio media at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, where he was responsible for such recording initiatives as the CSO’s Resound label and its weekly radio broadcast series, and assisted in planning media activity.
