On November 12, Ohio’s Toledo Symphony and the Michigan-based National Arab Orchestra will perform together at a concert entitled “Mideast x Midwest: A Dialogue of Music, Food and Fun at America’s Crossroads.” Serving as conductors for the event at Toledo’s Valentine Theatre will be Toledo Symphony Resident Conductor Sara Jobin and National Arab Orchestra Music Director Michael Ibrahim. Opera singer Lubana Al-Quntar, a Syrian refugee, will also perform. The concert will feature a new work called Dialogue featuring a student chorus of singers from the Toledo public schools. A post-concert reception is planned, with music, dancing, and food from Toledo-area restaurants. The National Arab Orchestra and Michael Ibrahim—whose previous orchestra collaborations include the Michigan Philharmonic—were covered in the Spring 2015 issue of Symphony
