The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s 2016 Edward T. Cone Composition Concert Institute concert recorded last July at Princeton’s Richardson Auditorium will be broadcast on New York classical radio station WQXR on October 18 at 9 p.m. The program, led by guest conductor David Robertson, features the professional premieres of works by the four composers in residence at the institute: James Anderson (Places with Pillars), Matthew Browne (Farthest South), Will Stackpole (…Ask Questions Later), and Jung Yoon Wie (Water Prism for Orchestra). Also on the concert is Institute Director Steven Mackey’s 2006 Turn the Key. The broadcast will be streamed live and will also be available afterward for on-demand listening in the archives at www.q2music.org. At the six-day institute, composers participated in masterclasses with Mackey, heard their works rehearsed and performed by the NJSO, received feedback from Robertson and NJSO musicians, and participated in career-focused sessions with music-industry leaders.
