On October 19, the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra celebrated the Cleveland Indians’ clinching baseball’s American League Championship with an impromptu rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” at the end of a concert. Guest conductor Theodore Kuchar led the concert at Kulas Hall, which featured Dvorák’s Carnival Overture, Schumann’s Symphony No. 2, and Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D minor, with student violin soloist Rebecca Benjamin. The concert was broadcast live on Cleveland radio station WCLV 104.9 FM. Click here to watch video of the orchestra performing the song. As was reported earlier at the Hub this week, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Riccardo Muti have recorded a video of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” to cheer on the Chicago Cubs during the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, which is underway. The winner of the latter series will play the Cleveland Indians in the World Series.
