On October 29, New Jersey’s Bay Atlantic Symphony will open its 2016-17 subscription season with its first concert in its new Cumberland County home, the 1937 Art Deco Landis Theater in Vineland. Jed Gaylin, in his 20th season as the orchestra’s music director, will lead Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings and Mozart’s Requiem, with Choral Arts of Southern New Jersey and Stockton Chorale. The Bay Atlantic Symphony also performs each program at the Stockton College Performing Arts Center, in Atlantic County. The 2016-17 season’s other four subscription presentations feature a program of holiday music (December); Copland’s Appalachian Spring and Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, with the orchestra’s co-concertmaster Jorge Ávila (January); Brahms’s Symphony No. 1 and Schnittke’s Piano Concerto with pianist Lydia Frumkin as soloist (March); and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 (“Italian”) and Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto with soloist Luosha Fang (May).
