Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Music Director Jeffrey Kahane has appointed CLAIRE BRAZEAU principal oboe. She succeeds ALLAN VOGEL, who retired in May after 44 years with the orchestra. Brazeau was previously second oboe at LACO, a post to which she was named in 2014, and since 2015 has also played with the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra. She performs in the period-instrument ensembles Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra and Ensemble Musica Humana as well as the new-music ensemble Le Train Bleu. Brazeau is a co-founding member of Los Angeles’s Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra and of cLAw, a woodwind quintet devoted to contemporary music. She holds a bachelor’s degree in oboe performance from Bard College Conservatory, and received an artist diploma from the Colburn School as a student of Allan Vogel.
