The Paducah (Ky.) Symphony Orchestra has appointed KATIE SMITH executive director. She brings more than ten years of experience in the classical and commercial music industry, including posts with the San Juan Symphony and the Music in the Mountains festival, both in Durango, Colo.; the Durango Songwriters Expo; and the Tennessee Soybean Festival. Originally from Oakland, Calif., Smith earned a professional certificate in nonprofit management from Fort Lewis College in Durango, and holds a bachelor’s degree in clarinet performance. Smith succeeds Daniel Sene, who left the orchestra in October 2016 after five years in the post.
