CONNER GRAY COVINGTON has been named assistant conductor of the Utah Symphony, effective in September 2017. The orchestra has also announced that REI HOTODA will conclude her two-season term as associate conductor on August 31, 2017.

Conner Covington is currently completing his tenure as Rita E. Hauser Conducting Fellow at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. He was a recipient of the Vienna Philharmonic’s Ansbacher Fellowship for Young Conductors in 2014, and in May 2016 participated in the League of American Orchestras’ Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview. He began his career as assistant conductor of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and music director of the Memphis Youth Symphony Program. Covington studied violin and conducting at the University of Texas, earned a master’s in orchestral conducting at the Eastman School of Music, and pursued further study at Aspen Music Festival and School’s American Academy of Conducting.
