“Tippet Rise Art Center is extending its 2017 summer concert season” of chamber concerts, writes Jaci Webb in Wednesday’s (2/15) Billings Gazette (Montana). “Now in its second concert season, Tippet Rise will offer music performances from July 7 to Sept. 17.” The inaugural season ran from June to August, 2016. “The Art Center … is located on a 10,260-acre working ranch at the foot of the Beartooth Mountains…. The 150-seat Olivier Music Barn [is] the Art Center’s primary music venue…. Weather permitting, concerts will also take place at the open-air Domo, a 98-foot-long, 16-foot-tall, acoustically rich sculptural structure designed by Ensemble Studio…. Season highlights include a world premiere by composer Aaron Jay Kernis … performed by pianist Pedja Muzijevic and cellist Matt Haimovitz…. [Pianist] Anne-Marie McDermott returns to Tippet Rise, performing both as a soloist and with … the St. Lawrence String Quartet…. Jeffrey Kahane makes his first appearance at Tippet Rise with a diverse recital program as well as Schubert’s Piano Quintet, ‘Trout,’ with the Ariel Quartet and Xavier Foley, double bass.” Also scheduled are violinist Caroline Goulding, the Escher String Quartet, and pianists Jenny Chen, Yevgeny Sudbin, and Natasha Paremski.
