The New York State Council on the Arts has announced that funding from $2,500 to $10,000 is available for composers to create new work in any of a variety of musical genres through its Individual Artists Program. This support is provided to composers under the sponsorship of an eligible New York State nonprofit organization submitting the application. The composition may be commissioned by the sponsoring organization or be a new work not specifically intended for a particular group. The project must culminate in a public performance of the complete work or work-in-progress; however, a full-scale production is not required. The composer must be a New York State resident. The deadline for applications is March 21, 2017. Click here for guidelines along with general application instructions.
