The Omaha Symphony has extended Music Director Thomas Wilkins’ contract three years, through the orchestra’s 2020-21 centennial season, when he will take the title of Music Director Emeritus. Wilkins became music director in 2005. During his tenure, Wilkins has increased the number of full-time musicians from 38 to 42, forged alliances with Omaha-area service organizations, and expanded the orchestra’s education programs. Wilkins retains his posts as principal conductor of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and Germeshausen Family and Youth Concert Conductor chair with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
