The American Composers Orchestra will mark Steve Reich’s 80th birthday year with a March 24 performance of Reich’s Tehillim at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall in New York City. ACO Music Director George Manahan will conduct, with vocalists Elizabeth Bates, Martha Cluver, Mellissa Hughes, and Rachel Calloway. The Carnegie program, entitled “Past Forward,” is presented as part of a season-long composer residency at Carnegie Hall by Reich, who turned 80 in October. Also on the concert will be three world premieres: Paola Prestini’s The Hotel That Time Forgot with video by Mami Kosemura, Trevor Weston’s Flying Fish, and David Hertzberg’s Chamber Symphony.
