As El Sistema-inspired music-training programs emerge worldwide, so does the need for volunteers to help in many ways: supporting teachers, working with children, fundraising, curriculum development, making and fixing instruments, and more. Sistema Connect, a free online resource, assists El Sistema-inspired programs by connecting them with short- and long-term volunteers, from music teachers to fundraisers, college students to professional musicians. Founded by Graciela Briceno, executive director of the Josiah Quincy Orchestra Program (a Sistema program in Boston) and associate editor at large for The World Ensemble, which reports on Sistema developments worldwide, Sistema Connect matches volunteer expertise with programs that need particular kinds of help. Programs in need of volunteers fill out the Program Sign-Up Form. Volunteers seeking to assist the global El Sistema movement fill out the Volunteer Sign-Up Form. Once Sistema Connect finds a match, the organization contacts each party before making a connection. Merely filling out one of the forms does not obligate either side to a partnership.
