New York Public Radio, parent company of WQXR, WNYC Radio, and WNYC Studios, has appointed SHANNON CONNOLLY senior vice president and general manager, music. Connolly will lead WQXR, one of the country’s leading classical music stations. Her role will include expanding the digital reach of classical music and advancing digital music strategy and audience development at WQXR and WNYC. Connolly has over two decades of digital music experience in product management, ad sales, and business development. As Viacom Music Group’s senior vice president, music strategy and operations, she was responsible for growing digital reach and revenue for music channels MTV and CMT, shows such as Unplugged and Crossroads, and for the Video Music Awards. As vice president, digital music, she led efforts with mobile apps, original programming, and partnerships. Most recently, Connolly founded The Yams, a chat-based recommendation service.
