The final candidate will do so this week. Maestro Richard Buckley has chosen a program he hopes will impress concertgoers of all ages and tastes, entitled ‘Dancing & Traveling with Copland and Friends.’ It includes Kodaly’s Dances of Galanta, Copland’s Appalachian Spring Suite, and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5. Buckley, now in his 13th season with Austin Opera, has been heralded by critics across the world for his dynamic contributions and passionate conducting style in both the orchestral and operatic genres.
