The League of American Orchestras is seeking presenters for an informal quick-fire session—on June 7 at the National Conference in Detroit—showcasing the spectrum of diversity and inclusion in action at orchestras across the country. The deadline for the (simple) proposal has been extended to May 5. We’re looking for new approaches to diversifying audiences and stakeholders, and to including a broader cross-section of communities. These may be public-facing engagement efforts, presentation formats or locations, changes in aesthetic features or programming, institutional partnerships and practices, or other actions that advance diversity and inclusion with intention. Each presenter will show ten images for twenty seconds each (for a total of less than four minutes); the images will advance automatically while the presenter talks. Images should be cleared for presentation use, fill the screen (no border), and support the single concept or idea being presented. Proposals may be from all types of member orchestras (adult, youth, community, professional) as well as from other musical organizations, such as El Sistema programs, educational programs, and more.

Submit a brief description and three sample images by 12:00pm ET on May 5, 2017.
