Tallahassee Youth Orchestras to premiere Zwilich’s “Ballet 2017”

On May 7 at Tallahassee’s Ruby Diamond Auditorium, the Tallahassee Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform Ellen Taaffe Zwilich’s Ballet 2017, its first commissioned world premiere, led by Music Director Alexander Jimenez. The work is being presented jointly with the Tallahassee Ballet. Zwilich is a Florida native, Florida State University alumna, and current FSU faculty member. The Tallahassee Youth Orchestras consist of four orchestras designed for various levels of playing ability, from beginning strings to an advanced symphony orchestra, as well as chamber groups including string quartet, woodwind quintet, brass quintet, and percussion ensemble.
