The Fifteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is now underway in Fort Worth, Texas, with 30 pianists ages 18 to 30 competing in preliminary rounds from May 25-28 at Bass Performance Hall. This year’s entire competition through June 10 will be live streamed at cliburn2017.medici.tv as well as at cliburn.org and medici.tv. Webcasts will also include competitor profiles, taped interviews, short features on aspects of the competition including its 1,200 volunteers, and other behind-the-scenes glimpses. For the first time, this year’s final found will be broadcast in cinemas around the United States on Saturday, June 10. The “2017 Cliburn Competition LIVE in Cinemas” will highlight the six finalists in concerto performances with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leonard Slatkin.
