EMMA GERSTEIN has been appointed second flute of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, effective September 18, 2017.

Since 2016, Gerstein has served as principal flute of New Zealand’s Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra. Previously, she was a Flute Fellow at the New World Symphony in Florida and principal flute of the Lexington (Kentucky) Philharmonic Orchestra. Gerstein, a Chicago native, was a member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and later studied at the Manhattan School of Music and the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
