On June 10, Symphonicity will perform at the annual Flying Proms event in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in collaboration with the Military Aviation Museum. The first half of the program will feature aerial displays from the museum’s collection of historical aircraft, such as the DeHavilland Mosquito and Messerschmitt Bf-109, accompanied by music from popular aviation-themed movies. At dusk, after the planes land, the orchestra will perform patriotic and pops music, followed by a fireworks display. Dennis Zeisler—director of bands, professor of clarinet and saxophone, and chairman of the music department at Old Dominion University in Norfolk—will conduct. This is the fourth year that Symphonicity, based in Virginia Beach, has been orchestral partner for the Flying Proms.
