Conductor JEFFREY GROGAN has accepted a joint position with Oklahoma City University and the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras. Effective July 1, Grogan will serve as conductor of the University Symphony Orchestra at Oklahoma City University’s Bass School of Music, and as artistic director of the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras and conductor of the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, the organization’s flagship ensemble. Grogan has served as adjudicator, conductor, and clinician for festivals for young musicians, and most recently was education and community engagement conductor of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. He previously served as conductor and artistic director of the NJSO Youth Orchestras, the InterSchool Orchestras of New York, and the New Jersey Youth Symphony. Grogan’s prior experience includes teaching at the University of Michigan, Ithaca College, and Baylor University, where he taught conducting and trained music educators. He is the former associate director of bands and marching band director at the University of Michigan and Baylor University. Grogan succeeds Eric Garcia, who accepted the position of music director at the Boise Philharmonic.
