ASHLEY BERKE has been named vice president of communications at the Philadelphia Orchestra, effective July 24, 2017. Berke goes to the Philadelphia Orchestra from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where she helped to create a six-episode documentary series about the School for Discovery Communications’ “Animal Planet” and worked to bring attention to the role of veterinarians in animal, human, and environmental health through expert commentary, timely resources, and collaborations with partners in healthcare and science. Prior to that, Berke spent eight years at the National Constitution Center (NCC), most recently serving as director of public relations. There she led media relations on behalf of the NCC for the 2008 presidential primary debate, and established distribution partnerships with Channel One News, Scholastic, and Discovery Education. A classical piano student since the age of two, Berke’s education at Cornell University, while centering on communications, also included a concentration in music.
