Pennsylvania’s Erie Philharmonic has named THOMAS BROOKS choir director of the Erie Philharmonic Chorus. Among the choral groups Brooks has led are Mercyhurst College Choir and Chamber Singers, which he founded in 1971; Symphonic Singers of Erie; and the Hartt School of Music’s Hartt Chorale, Collegiate Singers, Hartt Touring Opera Theatre, University Civic Chorus and Chamber Choir, and Collegium Musicum. He has taught at Texas Tech University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Gordon College in Massachusetts, and served as director of music for traditional services at Park Street Church in Boston from 1999 to 2013. Brooks works as a clinician for choirs, leading choral workshops, conducting Boston’s Lyricora, and overseeing the Salzburg Institute in Austria.
