SUSAN T. CHANDLER has been named executive director of Madeline Island Chamber Music, which provides training for young musicians on Madeline Island in Lake Superior, Wisconsin. Chandler succeeds MICM Founder Thomas George, who served in that position since the organization’s inception in 1985. Chandler joins MICM from the Minneapolis-based Arts Midwest, where she had served as vice president since 2012. Previously, Chandler served in several senior positions with Arts Midwest. Among her achievements there were the expansion of the Arts Midwest Conference; the development of Arts Midwest Folkefest; a four-year audience engagement initiative in collaboration with the Wallace Foundation; and partnerships with the National Endowment for the Arts. A native of Wisconsin, Chandler earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano performance from Lawrence University and the University of Wisconsin, respectively. She began her administrative career at the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.
