“President and CEO of the League of American Orchestras, Jesse Rosen, is in LA this week for [the League’s] ten-day Essentials of Orchestra Management seminar, hosted by the USC Thornton School of Music and presented in association with the USC Arts Leadership Program, the Association of California Symphony Orchestras, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic,” states the website of Los Angeles classical station KUSC about an interview posted on Sunday (7/23). Rosen “stopped by to speak to KUSC’s John Van Driel about the challenges and prospects facing the American orchestra today.” Among the topics discussed were the role of the League of American Orchestras as a service organization and advocate; the ways that orchestras are adapting and experimenting during a period of cultural change; efforts by the League and orchestras to increase diversity; and how Rosen sees reasons for optimism as orchestras are “pivoting into the new realities of our century and becoming organizations for our time and our place.” Listen to the interview here.
