The musicians of the Los Angeles Philharmonic have a new five-year contract, effective September 18. The contract was jointly announced on August 11 by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and American Federation of Musicians Local 47, AFL-CIO. The contract includes annual increases to the musicians’ minimum weekly scale wages, which in the final year will increase to $3,168. Also in the contract are provisions for managing healthcare expenses through new healthcare plan offerings, and additional compensation elements including a housing allowance and contributions to a 403(b) retirement savings plan.
