The Oregon Symphony will perform for the first time at the Oregon Zoo on September 2 in an outdoor performance before an expected audience of 4,000 people. Music Director Carlos Kalmar will conduct the program, which launches the orchestra’s 2017-18 season. The two-hour event will feature classical favorites and will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. The concert takes the place of the annual Waterfront Concert, which in previous years was supported by funding from the City of Portland that was not available this year. The rain date for the concert is September 5.
