“The most conducting typically seen at an airport involves aircraft taxiing on the runway, but this Thursday, those traveling through Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport will have a chance to pick up a baton themselves,” writes Brittany Britto in Wednesday’s (9/6) Baltimore Sun. “Members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will perform a ‘Conduct Me’ pop-up concert at BWI from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, inviting airport travelers to lead the orchestra for some improvised fun, according to a recent news release. BSO music director Marin Alsop will also conduct the orchestra, which held a similar concert last September at Penn Station as a way to kick off their 2016-2017 season and engage more with the community. The performance will be performed near a gallery space adjacent to the Gates D and E security checkpoint. It is a part of the airport’s art and entertainment initiative, which features various permanent and rotating art exhibits and performances by local musicians.”
