But this Friday marks a unique chapter in the city’s celebrated music scene,” write Amy Stumpfl and Melinda Baker in Tuesday’s (9/12) Tennessean (Nashville, TN). “Nashville Mayor Megan Barry has issued a proclamation, naming Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 ‘Classical Music Day.’ A special ceremony is planned for 1 p.m, hosted by Nashville Opera CEO and Artistic Director John Hoomes, and featuring performances by local musicians on the steps of the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The ceremony also will include remarks by Nashville transplant, classical composer, and ex-Winger front man Kip Winger. The Nashville Symphony will perform Winger’s piece ‘Conversations with Nijinsky,’ during concerts on Sept. 14, 15 and 16. Sept. 15 at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center, One Symphony Place.”
