The Reading Symphony Orchestra in Pennsylvania has hired DAVID GROSS as executive director. Gross previously served as president and CEO of the San Antonio Symphony, where he led the symphony’s move to a new performing arts center and created partnerships with regional arts organizations. Under Gross’s leadership, in January 2017 the San Antonio Symphony collaborated with the Martin Luther King Commission and the MLK Mass Choir to present an MLK Community Concert, with all proceeds from the concert donated to the MLK Scholarship Fund. He was also responsible for developing a partnership with the Majestic Theater to co-present a new series of movies with live symphony orchestra. The San Antonio Symphony’s education programs expanded by 50 percent during his tenure. Gross had previously served as president and CEO of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra and as executive director of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra in Michigan. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, Gross served as principal timpanist with the Grand Rapids Symphony and the Kansas City Philharmonic.
