Eugene Symphony’s Lecce-Chong heads to the football stadium

Eugene Symphony Music Director Francesco Lecce-Chong will conduct the University of Oregon marching band in the National Anthem prior to the Oregon Ducks football game against the California Golden Bears at Autzen Stadium in Eugene on September 30. The Oregon Ducks are the NCAA Division I football team of the University of Oregon. Lecce-Chong started his four-year term as music director of the Eugene Symphony in July; he also serves as associate conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and principal conductor of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra. The Eugene Symphony opened its classical season at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts on September 19 with a gala concert featuring soprano Renée Fleming and music by Bizet, Fauré, Saint-Saëns, Delibes, Copland, Barber, Verdi, Smetana, and Dvořák.
