Applications are now open for the 2018 Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview, hosted by Giancarlo Guerrero and the Nashville Symphony, April 3-4, 2018. The Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview is a program of the League of American Orchestras. Up to six applicants will be selected for the 2018 preview; the application deadline is December 4, 2017. Applicants must have completed their student/conservatory education, have at least two years of paid professional work with an orchestra, be committed to a career in service to American orchestras, and be available for the Preview’s entire duration. Selected conductors will rehearse a 20-minute program of contrasting musical selections, culminating in a free public concert at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The concert will be streamed live, promoted to industry professionals and the general public, and be posted online for 45 days. Participants will have the opportunity to network with industry professionals, and receive feedback and mentorship by Nashville Symphony musicians and Guerrero, an alumnus of the 2001 Preview. The 2018 Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview is made possible by a generous gift from Martha Rivers Ingram. Additional support is provided by a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
