Music Hall, home of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, “opens its doors to the public once again this weekend after a nearly two-year renovation,” writes Erin Caproni in a photo essay in Thursday’s (10/5) Cincinnati Business Courier. “The Courier got an early look at the completion of the $143 million project. … The massive overhaul was funded by a variety of sources including Cincinnati Center City Development Corp., the Music Hall Revitalization Company and the city of Cincinnati. … The public will get its first chance to tour the renovated building on Saturday during the Re(new)ed event hosted by ArtsWave. The weekend will include more than 50 live performances in addition to behind-the-scenes tours of the upgrades. The home of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Ballet and Cincinnati Opera was built in 1878. It is considered one of the best and most beautiful concert theaters in the world but needed some retouching and updates to keep it in operation. Music Hall hadn’t undergone a major renovation in more than 40 years. More than $48 million of the project budget is dedicated to necessary infrastructure improvements.” Seventeen photos are in the slideshow.
