Artistic: Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra

TARN TRAVERS has been appointed concertmaster of the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. He served as the orchestra’s interim concertmaster following the departure of Emily Glover in 2016. Travers performs widely as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. In 2001, he was a prizewinner at the Heifetz Guarneri auditions. Travers spent three years with in the New World Symphony, where he often led the orchestra as concertmaster; he also appeared as soloist with that orchestra three times. A member of the Chicago-based contemporary group Ensemble Dal Niente, his recent performances include a concerto appearance at Vienna’s Konzerthaus, a chamber music appearance at the Library of Congress in Washington, D. C., and a residency at Harvard University. Travers studied at San Francisco Conservatory, Cleveland Institute of Music, and Stony Brook University. His primary teachers included Cleveland Orchestra Concertmaster William Preucil, concert violinists Camilla Wicks and Axel Strauss, and Emerson Quartet violinist Philip Setzer. Travers is on faculty at DePauw University.
