Following this month’s wildfires in California, the Santa Rosa Symphony is offering free tickets for all children to its October 29 family concert at Green Music Center entitled “Creature Features,” as well as free tickets during the season to first responders and families who have lost their homes. In addition, the orchestra is dedicating its 2017-18 season to first responders and those who have lost their homes. Santa Rosa Symphony President and CEO Alan Silow said, “Though all of us are struggling to recover from this trauma that has left no one in the county untouched, the evidence of heroism, dedication and indomitable human spirit is most heartening. All of us at the Symphony are eternally for the firefighters, who sprang into action from near and far, struggling to save our homes, our landmarks, businesses, parks, and open spaces.” As previously reported, the fires partially destroyed the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa, which hosts the Santa Rosa Symphony’s pops series as well as community and educational programs. The Green Music Center at Sonoma State University, where the Santa Rosa Symphony’s classical series is performed, was temporarily closed but not damaged by the fires.
