The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance, the parent organization of the Dayton Philharmonic, Dayton Ballet, and Dayton Opera, has launched a new series of free concerts called EDGE, featuring “unconventional performances in unconventional places.” The first concert in the series on September 26 featured Dayton Philharmonic trumpeter Charles Pagnard, double bassist Stephen Ullery, and percussionist Michael LaMattina performing a lunch-hour concert at the Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center Pavilion during the weekly farmer’s market and food truck rally. Future EDGE concerts on October 25, December 3, and January 13 will take place at the Amber Rose Restaurant, Dayton Metro Main Library, and Emporium Wines and Underdog Cafe, with music ranging from Scottish fiddle tunes and tangos to selections from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. More EDGE performances will be added throughout the 2017-18 season.
