The highly competitive General Operating Support grants are provided to organizations in the Metropolitan Atlanta area that demonstrate a culture of fiscal responsibility, commitment to community, high quality programs and best practices in organizational structure and governance. ‘It is a tribute to the musicians, staff and board of the GSO that we have received this tremendous award from the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta,’ Georgia Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Susan Stensland said…. The Georgia Symphony Orchestra plans to strategically reinvest the significant funding within the organization as a means to strengthen and grow the programming, impact, and musical opportunities in the community. Founded in 1951, the Marietta-based GSO has brought music to more than 17,000 people annually.… The GSO organization operates under the artistic leadership of Music Director Timothy Verville and includes the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, the GSO Chorus, GSO Jazz! and the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra.”
