Twelve high-potential orchestra professionals have been selected for the League of American Orchestras’ Emerging Leaders Program. The ten-month program offers mentoring by top leaders in the field, one-on-one coaching, and in-depth seminars by leading experts. The participants, who work at orchestras nationwide, were selected through a competitive application process based on their leadership experience and growth potential; their adaptive capabilities and collaborative skills; their diversity in experience and perspectives; their passion for and commitment to orchestras; and their potential to make a difference and influence the field in the years ahead. The program, which began this November, will culminate at the League’s 2018 National Conference in Chicago. The Emerging Leaders Program is the flagship of the League’s leadership development offerings. Along with its previous iteration, the Orchestra Management Fellowship Program, the Emerging Leaders Program has advanced the development of more than 180 alumni—from current executive directors of orchestras to countless senior executives.
