“New York Philharmonic President and CEO Deborah Borda is putting the final touches on her leadership team, announcing today that Adam Crane, a former colleague at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, will move into the newly created post of vice president of external affairs, overseeing all publications, communications, community relations, and education,” writes Susan Elliott in Tuesday’s (11/28) Musical America (subscription required). “Crane arrives in January after nine years with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, where his most recent post was senior VP of external affairs and strategic initiatives. A native of St. Louis, Crane has seen a steady career rise from his earliest public relations jobs with Universal Music and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Also announced today is the appointment of Susan Madden as VP for development at the Philharmonic; Madden … worked most recently as senior VP for development at the Paley Center for Media and, before that, the Museum of the City of New York. At the latter, she is credited with a successful $100 million capital campaign.… Also on her CV are development jobs with Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project and the Guggenheim Museum…. The appointments, says Borda, close the loop on her senior-management team.”
